Palio

The Palio di Siena is an event that every year – on July 2nd and August 16th – attracts a large audience of enthusiasts and tourists to Tuscany. Protagonists of the Palio are the various contrade of Siena, or the districts into which the city is divided. Ten bareback-ridden horses compete in a highly followed race in Piazza del Campo transformed into a circuit. Being in Siena during this time is a truly unique opportunity to experience all the warmth and popular tradition of the city.
